Goodluck Jonathan Defends Fayose Over Ekiti Election Crisis!

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has come to the defense of Ayodele Fayose following the crisis in Ekiti ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Jonathan Governor’s constitutional immunity guarantees that he should be given official protection to freely conduct the business of governing the State while commenting on the situation at hand. He said: “If it is true that the State Governor Mr. Ayodele Fayose was assaulted as reported in the media, my appeal is that such should not be allowed to happen again, since the Governor’s constitutional immunity guarantees that he should be given official protection to freely conduct the business of governing the State.”

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, recently deployed a total of 30,000 police personnel to provide security during the Ekiti election that will hold this Saturday. A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, on Sunday, revealed the police boss equally order the deployment of two patrol surveillance helicopters, five additional Armoured Personnel Carriers, ten Armoured Personnel Vehicles and 250 Police patrol vehicles to the state. ““I am appealing to the security agencies deployed to Ekiti State for the Governorship election to carry out their duties according to the laws of the land by securing the state in a manner that will enable a peaceful electoral process,” the former president adds in the statement issued by his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze.
